Sweet Snowflake Tortillas

SnowflakeTortillasFinale

The snow is coming down now! My kiddos played outside this afternoon and had a blast. They needed to defrost from it all with some hot cocoa and I thought…now is a good time to make these Sweet Snowflake Tortillas.

What do you need?

  • Flour tortillas
  • Canola or vegetable oil for baking
  • Confectioners’ sugar
  • Sprinkles, edible glitter and or cinnamon sugar (optional)

Instructions

Heat the oven to 400 degrees. Warm the tortillas (about 15 seconds) in the microwave.

Fold each tortilla in half and then in half again, so that you end up with a shape that resembles a wedge of pie.

Start cutting around edges as if you were making paper snowflakes. Carefully unfold the tortillas.

Bonus! It’s a great activity for the kids because they get to create their own unique edible snowflake. :)

Lightly brush the tops of the snowflakes with oil and place on a cookie sheet slightly apart.

Bake about 4 minutes until lightly browned and crisp.

When done, sift confectioners’ sugar (or sprinkles, cinnamon sugar, etc.) on the snowflakes while still warm.

I mixed a bit of blue sugar with the confectioners’ sugar and placed in a container which used to hold sprinkles.

Side Note: My kids DO drink out of cute snowman mugs (as pictured above). My hubby gave me a set as a gift a few years ago. They now get put to good use by the kids.

Be sure to check out some other sweet things I’ve made.
