Homemade Heart Poptarts for Breakfast – Happy Valentine’s Day!

Happy Valentine’s Day!

This morning I surprised my family with a sweet breakfast. I made homemade poptarts! I can’t take credit for this wonderful recipe but I did come up with the idea to make them into heart shapes. Cute?! I also added some pink and red sugar. I know I started their day off with sugar (as I’m sure will continue as the day goes on) but hey it’s Valentine’s Day. I do feel better that these poptarts are made from scratch and not out of a box.

This recipe has a few ingredients, was so easy to make, and the end result was yummy!!!

Tomorrow, I plan to post about 2 ingredient changes I made to the original recipe. I’ll also share other changes I may incorporate in the future. This was my first attempt at making homemade poptarts so I learned there are some things I could do a bit better. The future changes have nothing to do with the recipe’s ingredients but more technique.  Stay tuned on that tomorrow. (UPDATE: Here’s Homemade Poptarts Part 2.)

Today, I just want to focus on the Valentine’s Day theme. So in the meantime, check out Home Healthy Poptarts by Heavenly Homemakers if you want read up on this fantastic recipe.

Did you have a special Valentine’s Day breakfast? Or maybe lunch, dinner or other sweet treats?

  1. I am so looking forward to YOUR recipe and I hope it’s as UNhealthy as pop tarts are supposed to be

  2. Hi Rosie – LOL. I made very minor changes and so it’s still “healthy” but there are easy ways to make it UNhealthy. 🙂

  3. I have a heart-shaped silicone cake pan, and I make cinnamon rolls in it and color the icing pink. We also have a cinnamon roll Christmas tree on Christmas morning!

  4. Sounds yummy Terra! Thanks for sharing!
