Sweet Heart Chocolate Covered Brownies

HeartBrowniesFinale

I told you about my impromptu brownie sundae last week. Soon after that yummy mishap, I was able to make some more brownies in form of lovely hearts.

This time I decided NOT to double my recipe. No need to make them thick. I also made sure the brownies cooled completely! I cut them into heart shapes using the Wilton Duo Heart Cutter I purchased a few weeks ago at Michaels using a 40% off coupon. I LOVE this heart cutter. It makes 2 hearts at one time, has a handle, and the heart design is different than most.

I poured some melted chocolate (I use melted chocolate chips) over the heart shaped brownies and topped with sprinkles. I found it works great to place brownies on a rack so the chocolate drips down.

Here’s my easy to make Brownie Recipe:

4 ounces unsweetened chocolate (I used Baker’s Chocolate)
8 tablespoons of unsalted butter
1 1/4 cup sugar
1 tsp vanilla
1/4 tsp salt
2 eggs
1/2 cup flour

Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Prepare a 8×8 inch square pan by lining it with foil on the bottom and sides. Melt chocolate and butter together in a pan on low heat. Stir often until everything is melted and smooth. Remove from heat and stir in sugar, vanilla, and salt. Stir in eggs one at a time until incorporated before adding next. Stir in flour and beat until batter is smooth and glossy and comes away from the sides of the pan. Pour brownie batter into lined 8×8 inch square pan.

Bake for about 20 minutes. Let brownies cool completely. Lift the ends of foil liner and transfer/place brownies on a cutting board.

This is so easy to make and looks great. But the best part is it’s delicious. Chocolate on top of brownies plus sprinkles. I wish I had one right now to eat! No worries…I’ll be whipping up another batch for my daughter’s Valentine’s Day classroom party. I just need to make sure there are extras. :)

So what about you? Have you made any sweet Valentine’s Day treats yet? Do you plan on making any?

  1. What a simple yet totally tasty and fun cooking project and something I can do without a lot of time and hassle. My niece’s birthday is Valentine’s day. I think she’d really like these.

I really like that the heart cutter does two at one time. seems like that will make quick work of the pan of brownies.
