DIY: Heart Tree Art

HeartTreeArtFinalee

It’s time for a Valentine’s Day do-it-yourself craft project – I made a Heart Tree Art to frame.

I really love my Tree Scrabble Button Art I made during the fall. I wanted to do something similar for Valentine’s Day but I didn’t want it to be exactly the same.

This time I kept my supplies to a minimum by using only paper. The end result is both simple and pretty.

The materials I used for this project were a frame, dark brown card stock paper, red card stock paper, patterned paper, paper with words printed on it, heart puncher, scissors and glue. The paper printed with the word LOVE all over it is the same as the one used in my Say It With Love Paper Heart Garland. It’s slightly different because I lighted up the colors and I printed it on card stock paper.

I cut the printed paper to fit my frame.

I cut out a tree trunk from the dark brown stock paper.

I cut out a big heart from the red card stock paper.

I cut out several small hearts using a heart puncher. I used patterned paper so it would stand out on top of the big red heart. I then fold each of the hearts in half. I did this to give the tree some dimension.

Now the gluing begins…

I glued the tree trunk and big red heart using a glue stick. I used a glue gun to adhere the small hearts by placing glue on just the folded seam.

The last thing I did was place it in a frame.

Now I have a sweet Heart Tree to display on my mantle.
