DIY: Hanging Paper Four Leaf Clovers

FourLeafCloverCraftFinale

My kiddos were on Spring Break and I decided some quality craft time was needed. We made some cute 4 Leaf Clovers for St. Patrick’s Day.

This project is inspired by our Say It With Love – Paper Heart Garland.

TIP: You could make this more simple by making the clovers with just green paper. I personally love it combined with the white paper and rainbow-colored words. The four leaf clovers look great with or without it.

The materials to make a Hanging Paper Four Leaf Clover are green cardstock paper, white paper with rainbow colored words (see below for link to printable), straight edge cutter or scissors, ruler, glue stick, stapler and ribbon.

Cut paper into strips. You’ll need 4 strips of white paper, 4 strips of green paper and a smaller green strip to make one Four Leaf Clover.

Measurements:
The white paper with rainbow colored words – 9 inches tall and 3/4 inch wide.
The green paper – 8 inches tall and 1 inch wide.
The green (which is the inner part) is going to be wider but shorter than the white.

Also cut a green strip 4 inches tall and 1 inch wide to use as the clover’s stem.

Fold each strip in half (except the 4 inches tall green strip for clover stem).

Center the white strip onto the green strip and line up ends. I glued the white to the green only on the ends.

Take the ends and hold together to form a heart. Staple. That’s the first clover leaf.

I also glued the point of each heart – green paper to white paper at bottom point.

I then repeated the steps to make a clover leaf heart 3 more times. There will be 4 hearts total.

I glued three of the hearts together. I then glued one side of the forth heart.

I placed glue on both sides of the bottom part of  the 4 inch green stem. I then place it in between and secured.

I did a little bendy curve at the end of the clover’s stem.

The last thing I did was attach yellow ribbon to the four leaf clover to hang on each light of our kitchen chandelier.

How’s that for a fun St. Patrick’s Day craft activity and decoration?
